Are telehealth sessions available?

Yes.

Both in-person and telehealth (online) sessions are available at Altair Psychology. Please be sure to let our friendly reception team know your preference when booking your session.

For assessment appointments, its best to attend in person if possible. For some assessments, it may not possible to conduct the session via telehealth. We understand, however, that this is not always possible to attend in person. Please speak to our reception team if you require your assessment to be held via telehealth.

Can I claim a Medicare Rebate?

Yes.

A Medicare rebate is available only with the presentation of a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) or letter of referral from a general practitioner (GP), paediatrician, or psychiatrist.

A MHCP is usually issued for an initial 6 sessions to be used within 12 months of the date of issue. After you have used these sessions, you may be eligible to complete a MHCP Review with your GP which will give you access to a further 4 sessions. To be valid your referral must be dated on or before the date of your appointment and have at least 1 session available.

Please provide us with a copy of your MHCP or letter of referral via email prior to attending your appointment.

Please note – there is no Medicare rebate available for couples counselling, family therapy, or therapy assistant services.

How do I book an appointment?

What are your fees?

The fee for a 50-minute session with a registered psychologist is $230. A Medicare rebate of $92.90 is available with the presentation of a valid MHCP or letter of referral from a GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist.

Do you offer Bulk-billed services or concession rates?

Altair Psychology allocates a proportion of available sessions each week to concession card holders.

An initial 4 bulk-billed sessions are available to concession card holders. Thereafter, concession card holders will be eligible for the concession rate of $140 per 50-minute session with a registered psychologist. The out-of-pocket expense after the Medicare rebate is $47.10.

Please note – you will need to provide us with a Mental Health Care Plan or letter of referral in order to access bulk-billed services and/ or the Medicare rebate.

Do you provide services to NDIS participants?

Intervention, therapy, skills building, and assessment services are available to NDIS participants. NDIS participants will be invoiced at the NDIS schedule rate according to the current NDIS Pricing Arrangements

Is it ok to attend my appointment if I am unwell?

NO

If you are are unwell, please do not attend the practice. Please contact us as soon as possible.

If suitable, we can change your in-person session to a telehealth session so you can keep your appointment time and attend your session online.

If you are unwell and would prefer to reschedule your appointment, please let reception know and we will assist you to reschedule your appointment at a later date.
